In the Maasai culture of Kenya and Tanzania, cattle are considered a symbol of wealth, status, and social value. 🐮




The number of cattle given as a bride price often depends on the bride’s family status and the agreement between both families.

This tradition is not seen as “buying” a bride, but rather as a way of strengthening bonds and mutual respect between families.

Cattle also play a central role in Maasai daily life, providing milk, food, and even being used in important rituals and ceremonies.



Even today, many Maasai communities continue this practice, blending traditional customs with modern influences.

After we came to campus, one of the best friends I met was Sanduni. She is honestly like an elder sister to me. She was born in 2002. Her father is no more, and she lives with her mother and sister.
