“Our forgotten things” πŸƒπŸ€”❓

Image
Hela Vedakama is the knowledge about health, wellness, and life secrets that has been passed down through our generations. In the past, our mothers, sisters, and village elders developed methods to heal illnesses and maintain physical well being using local resources such as leaves, trees, water, flowers, and seeds.πŸƒ The benefits of Hela Vedakama come through traditional and prescribed remedies, practices, and lifestyle habits. It provides quick remedies, daily preventive measures, mental wellness, and physical strength.πŸ’ͺ Today, much of this knowledge has been forgotten, reducing our ability to use natural resources and the environment effectively. Rediscovering Hela Vedakama helps us seek traditional healing over modern quick fixes and enables us to live a simpler, healthier life.❤️πŸƒ In short, Hela Vedakama is our precious ancestral knowledge that combines leaves, plants, traditional practices, and life experiences to provide healing and well being.

My favorite life πŸƒπŸ›΅

Image
I’m someone who loves freedom especially mental freedom  πŸƒ . I love walking freely near the hills and forests. Whenever I get a chance to feel free, I take my bike and just live in that moment. That freedom has the power to erase all my problems in an instant. The cold breeze, the mist, the sunlight breaking through, the winding roads, the trees… standing on the hilltops and looking down at the beautiful valleys below that’s the life I love. Because I’m a girl, I’ve faced some limitations in living this way, but the first time I truly experienced this life was here, in my mother’s village… Mavussawa  πŸƒ .

My school mother ❤️

Nowadays, I’ve seen that many teachers live very routine lives, limited only to textbooks. Students too seem to go through their school life in the same monotonous way. But during my 12 years of schooling, after I passed my O/Ls and came to Viharamahadevi in Kandy, I met a teacher who showed me that a teacher is not just a teacher. She gave me the dream of becoming one. That is none other than my class teacher, Sandamali Mudalige Madam.  ❤️ Sandamali Madam is known as a strict class teacher in the Art section. At first, I didn’t like that she became our class teacher she was that strict! Everything had to be done neatly and properly… otherwise, there were “royal punishments”  πŸ˜„❤️  But as time went by, we became like her own children. Still strict but beyond that, she was everything to us. During lessons, she was a teacher; at times, a mother; and sometimes even a friend of our own age. I truly believe that we are who we are today because of how she shaped our live...

The 18 Hairpin Bends I Love to Travel πŸ₯°πŸƒ

Image
This road was built in the 19th century (around 1825) during the British colonial period. It was mainly used to transport coffee, tea, and spices grown in the hill country to the Colombo port. There is also a local legend that the road was designed based on a shortcut shown to a British engineer by a native Vedda. Although it is called the “18 Bends,” today there are only about 17 bends remaining, as one was removed during road widening. After a large-scale renovation project that began in 2008, this once narrow and dangerous road was widened up to 15 meters and carpeted by 2012. As a result, the travel time from Mahiyanganaya to Kandy, which used to take around 4 hours, has been reduced to about 1.5 hours. πŸ‘Œ This road is a major tourist attraction. From the top, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Mahiyanganaya valley, the Mahaweli River, and Sorabora Lake, along with the beautiful landscapes of the Eastern Province. ⛰️πŸƒ With its sharp and winding turns, it offers an excit...

My village is Thalathuoya in Kandy. The neighboring village to ours is called Belwood. What adds more beauty to our area is the Belwood mountain range. Many local travelers and foreign tourists visit Belwood when they travel around Sri Lanka.πŸƒ From the top of these hills, you can see many breathtaking places in the distance such as the Knuckles mountain range, Mutukeliyawa Lake, Victoria Dam, the Mahaweli River, Hantana, Sandagiri Seya, Pidurangala, Hunnasgiriya, and Riverston. Some people even say you can spot Sri Pada from there.❤️πŸƒ   Whenever my school friends or university friends come to my house, I always take them to see Belwood πŸƒ.They are always so happy and amazed by the view. I still remember the time my school friends came home for my birthday, and we all went to Belwood together it was such a beautiful memory.πŸ₯°❤️πŸƒ

My motivational character 🧠

There is an amazing actor called Peter Dinklage. One day, he shared a story like this: when he was young, his mother had put up a poster on his room wall. It had a quote that said,  “According to all aerodynamic laws, a bumblebee cannot fly because its body weight is disproportionate to its wingspan. But ignoring all those laws, the bee flies anyway.”   🫑❤️ Peter Dinklage is not a very tall person. If we compare him to that bumblebee, an ordinary person might say he doesn’t look like someone who could become an actor. But despite all the limitations in his life, he became successful and won in his own way. The lesson I took from him into my life is this: no matter how many shortcomings I may have, if I step back from my goals because of them, that is my weakness. For a true winner, shortcomings are just words they don’t define who you are.  ❤️πŸ’―

Masimbula, who made me addicted to books πŸ“šπŸ—️

If I say that the novel  “Mayi Maara Prasangaya”  written by Mahinda Prasad Masimbula made me addicted to reading, it would be absolutely true. The one-sided love that Samidha aiya shows towards Sancharani in the story strongly touched the hearts of everyone who has ever loved or felt lonely.❤️ Among today’s youth,  Mayi Maara Prasangaya  became a novel that brought both curiosity and a unique emotional experience. The Badulla–Bandarawela train journey and the mountain ranges along the railway track added a special charm to the story. Many young readers who were deeply moved by the novel even went looking for Samidha aiya’s house in Bandarawela.πŸƒ⛰️πŸ›€️ This is not just an ordinary story. It is based on a true incident that happened during the COVID-19 period, which the author transformed into a novel.🫑❤️ After reading it, I didn’t feel like going in search of Samidha aiya’s house… instead, I felt like finding "Sancharani" the one who still doesn’t know about his lov...

The ice cream I longed for and finally got to enjoy 🀀🍦

Image
These days, I kept seeing a video that had gone really viral on YouTube and TikTok. I’m not usually someone who runs behind viral or trending things… hardly ever. I like to keep things simple and low-key  😌πŸ₯°  But the shape and the look of this ice cream really caught my attention, and I got a little curious to taste it and see what it’s like. I first saw it when I was home in Kandy during my campus vacation. Since it wasn’t available around my area, I thought I’d look for it when I went to Colombo. One day in Colombo, I casually checked places like Keells and Cargills Food City… but couldn’t find it  πŸ˜ͺ  I even searched on PickMe and Facebook, but still no luck. So eventually, I gave up on the idea  🫠   I told my boyfriend about it… “There’s this really nice ice cream, it would’ve been amazing to try… but I couldn’t find it anywhere.” That same evening, he surprised me by bringing it  😍 Even he couldn’t easily find it, but he had gone a long way se...
