Anonymous π
Let’s talk today about the people hidden in the dark shadows of the internet unknown to individuals, yet known to the whole world… π€«
We all use the internet peacefully through our phones or computers, but behind the scenes, massive cyber wars are constantly taking place. π Even the most powerful governments in the world fear one particular group: Anonymous, the hacktivist collective.
This story begins around 2003. Back then, before platforms like Facebook or TikTok existed, there was a simple image-based forum called 4chan. A group of users there started hacking websites almost for fun. But things became serious in 2008 after a conflict with the Church of Scientology. π₯² That’s when the name Anonymous became known worldwide.
What makes them unique is that they have no single leader. Members often appear wearing the iconic Guy Fawkes mask. In other words, Anonymous is less of a fixed group and more of an idea or movement. π«‘
Looking at their actions, anyone would be surprised. At one point, they took down thousands of Twitter accounts linked to ISIS. They also supported WikiLeaks when it released classified documents from powerful countries. π«‘ During the Russia–Ukraine War, they even hacked Russian state TV channels to broadcast information about the war. π↕️
They also launched “Operation Darknet,” targeting child exploitation networks, and managed to shut down over 40 hidden websites. ππ«‘
But Anonymous isn’t alone. Other groups like LulzSec and Lizard Squad have appeared over time. However, none have lasted as long or created the same level of global impact as Anonymous.

Great one π
